Liposuction, how much fat is removed? by Clinica Arroyo Goldstein, Lima Peru

Less Is Often More With Liposuction

One request I hear very frequently from patient’s during liposuction is to remove as much fat as I can. It’s important to know, though, that this will not provide the best results. The best results are achieved when just the right amount of fat is removed.

Actually, removing as much fat as possible is easier than removing just the right amount of fat. That’s because liposuction, or liposculpture, is a medical procedure for body sculpting, and, sculpting of any form is considered an art. The end goal of liposuction is to remove extra fat that appears disproportionate to the rest of the body in order to achieve a more esthetically pleasing contour.

A focus on achieving balance and proportion doesn’t mean that a dramatic change cannot be achieved. In fact, most patients do experience a dramatic change after liposculpture. It does mean, though, that liposuction is about more than just removing as much fat as possible. It’s about removing just the right amount of fat from all the right places.
